I SPEAK to you today not as a former legislator, but as a citizen who has long upheld the values of accountability, good governance, and the rule of law. In my years of public service, I have witnessed the importance of institutions that safeguard democracy and protect the interests of the people.
The impeachment of a sitting Vice President is a matter of great consequence, and it must be approached with utmost seriousness, fairness, and adherence to due process. It is not about political vendettas, nor should it be dismissed as mere partisanship. It is about the fundamental question of whether the highest officials of the land have violated their oath of office, betrayed public trust, or committed acts that warrant their removal.
In 2000, I was among those who stood in the halls of Congress to hold a President accountable. Then, as now, my position remains the same: No one is above the law. Public office is a public trust, and when serious allegations arise—whether they involve corruption, abuse of power, or other violations—they must be confronted with courage and integrity.
Let this impeachment process be a testament to our democratic principles. If the evidence warrants it, let accountability prevail. If the accusations are baseless, let the Vice President be vindicated through due process. Either way, let the truth emerge—not for the sake of political convenience, but for the people whom we are sworn to serve.
Our democracy demands vigilance. Our people deserve the truth. And our leaders, regardless of name or position, must always be held to the highest standards of integrity and responsibility.
Let us proceed with wisdom, fairness, and an unwavering commitment to justice.
