SAMAL, Bataan — The distribution of half cavan of rice of 25 kilos each for every household and the implementation of “Kusina sa Barangay” in all the 11 towns and a city in Bataan started Thursday.

Barangay chair Hector Forbes of Santa Lucia, Samal said the two programs are projects of the provincial government under Gov. Albert Garcia as aid to all residents in 236 barangays while the province is still under the enhanced community quarantine.

The barangay chairman who was leading some women volunteers in handing cooked food in styro packs said they were implementing the “Kusina sa Barangay” where the poorest of the poor in every village will be the beneficiary.

“Nagdadala kami ng ulam para sa ating mga kababayang nagkukulang sa pang-araw-araw na pangangailangan,” Forbes said.

Cooked food for Thursday lunch in Santa Lucia was adobong manok.

In the distribution of rice, villagers were told to ready monoblock chairs at the roadside in front of their houses.

To follow strict quarantine and social distancing procedures, a barangay kagawad with the use of a portable sound system advised villagers to stay in their houses after preparing the chairs with approved household application forms pasted on every chair.

Only some village officials and those unloading the rice were allowed to stay outside.

The rice distributed was not from the National Food Authority but of the commercial variety Dinorado.
