HERMOSA, Bataan — Combined police teams apprehended an alleged leader of a notorious gang and seized firearms and ammunitions in a lightning raid in a village here, police reported Sunday.
Major Jeffrey S. Onde, Hermosa police chief, said Elmer Napinas, suspected leader of the Napinas Group, was arrested during the implementation of a search warrant issued by Executive Judge Ma. Lourdes Eltanal– Ignacio of RTC Branch 5 in Dinalupihan, Bataan.
He said the suspect was involved in gun-for-hire, gunrunning, and in the proliferation of illegal drugs in Bataan.
The police teams were composed of the Hermosa police, detectives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group–Bataan, 1st Provincial Mobile Force Company and the Abucay police and EOD– Bataan.
Seized from the house of the suspect along the highway in Barangay Mambog, Hermosa were a .45 pistol, a magazine for .45, nine live ammunitions for .40, a hand grenade, a tear gas and a magazine for .9mm, Onde said. Napinas did not resist arrest, the police chief said.
The suspect was placed under the custody of CIDG in Balanga City for proper documentation and disposition.
He faces charges for violation of RA 10591 (Illegal possession of firearms) and RA 9516 (Illegal possession of explosives), Onde said.
