SAN LUIS, Pampanga – Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda expressed appreciation on Monday, August 22, to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) for providing over P11.9 million emergency cash assistance to farmers affected by recent monsoon rains brought by typhoons Egay and Falcon.
Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda, along with 4th District Congresswoman Anna York Bondoc, mayors, and DSWD Region 3 representatives, distributed the said financial aid to 2,293 farmers in San Luis and Apalit.
According to DSWD, a total of P29.8 million has been allocated to assist 5,763 farmers in Pampanga who have been under a state of calamity since July 31.
“Pasalamatan po natin si Presidente Marcos at DSWD sa tulong na ito. Alam po namin hindi namin kayang mapunan lahat ng mga nasira niyong pananim dahil sa calamity na dinala ng bagyo. Pero ang importante, may grasya na dumating. Nung nag request kami ng mga mayor and ni congressman, agad po kaming pinagbigyan. Ganyan po tayo kamahal ni Presidente Bongbong,” stated the governor.
The program aims to provide immediate disaster relief, humanitarian response, and early recovery aid by offering unconditional cash assistance to disaster and emergency victims. Each beneficiary received P 5,175 from DSWD.
“It’s part of the social mechanism of the Department of Social Welfare and Development Office for the affected families by natural disasters such as typhoon Falcon and Egay. For them to be accommodated sa mga monsoons kasi may mga pangangailangan na dapat tugunan ng pamahalaan,” explained Armont Pecina, division chief of DSWD Region 3’s disaster response and management division (DRMD).
Similarly, affected farmers from San Simon, Minalin, Macabebe, Candaba, Arayat, and Bacolor are also set to receive the same assistance this week.
