Going organic

With the diversity of food products in the market these days, whether fresh, preserved or ready-to-eat, we really need to be guarded for many health reasons and chemical-free consumption.

Going organic gives a better choice, mainly because it’s a food, animal or any product processed, grown, or produced without additives, coloring, synthetic chemicals, radiation or genetic manipulation.

This is why many are going “gaga” with organic, but, unfortunately here, availability in the market is scant, there’s a need or demand but no enough supply or convenient place to buy.

Thanks to Robinsons Mall and AdCentral Media Production, in partnership with Region 3 Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Agriculture (DA) and Department of Tourism (DOT), for launching the Central Luzon Organic Market in Robinsons Starmills.

With the merging of three powerful government agencies and private sectors, a strong community affair was established, selling the best organic products like unpolished rice, rice wine & coffee, virgin coconut oil, ginger tea, preserved fruits from Nueva Ecija,  herbal plants, spicy papaya vinegar, goat’s milk from Tarlac, soy products from Arayat and Mabalacat City, veggie cookies & puto, mushrooms from Angeles City, organic livestock, eggs, spices, herbal plants, massage oils and beauty products from other parts of Pampanga.

Asked if how did she came about with this brilliant concept,  “I started organizing weekend organic market last December 2012 in Angeles City, solely for Pampanga sellers only, and later Robinsons in partnership with DOT, DTI and DA and I came up with the Central Luzon Organic Market because we know we have a lot of producers in the area, they just need support , venue to sell and sustain their business, we really need to help these small entrepreneurs for they are giving us healthy alternatives, making our body healthy and life better”, reveals Edna Eufemio of AdCentral.

There’s really nothing akin to chatting with the sellers, learning the trade, supporting homegrown producers and buying farm-fresh products that you will bring home, cook and serve with a delightful taste of organic meal to your loved ones.

“They thought organic products are expensive, actually it’s not, because with all the health benefits and nutrients we are getting from it, compared to commercialized products in the market, organic is much cheaper and healthier, like this tofu I’m selling, processed by using real soy beans, you can taste its texture and richness, when you fry the moisture and tenderness inside the tofu remain the same”, adds Nutrisoy owner Edilberto Lapuz.

Even the favorite and hardworking regional director of DOT has a lot to share, “Personally I’m a user of organic products, in fact, I started eating Gynura (medicinal pant), as in crunching the fresh leaves and amazingly it made a lot of difference in my health condition like my blood pressure and cholesterol went down”, adds DOT Regional Director Ronnie Tiotuico.

Now, Central Luzon Organic Market is becoming an attraction in the neighborhood and “out-of-towners” for its variety of organic products. Visit the next market day on  August 2 – 4 , August 30 – September 1 at Robinsons Abacan Balibago and August 16 – 18 Robinsons Starmills. For details call 0917-8265145.
