Globe has sustained its communications support for affected families in quake-hit Abra, providing residents, especially evacuees, access to connectivity in the aftermath of the destructive 7.0-magnitude temblor.
In partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development, Globe extended prepaid load as communication support for evacuees in Abra to help keep them connected to their loved ones and get access to online services.
First on the ground among telcos to deliver immediate support within hours of the quake, Globe provided free calls, charging and WiFi connectivity in Bangued town until Friday, July 29.
Globe’s Libreng Tawag, Libreng Charging and Libreng WiFi (LTLCLW) station at the Bangued Plaza, established with the help of the local government, served affected families at a time when getting in touch with loved ones to get help was critical.
Its network has also remained fully operational since the quake, providing reliable connectivity amid emergency and disaster relief operations.
The Globe Group has also activated various donation channels to gather support for those affected by the quake:
- Starting Friday, July 29, Globe customers may convert their unused data into Rewards points to donate to quake-hit families through charities and foundations of their choice.
- Globe’s mobile prepaid and postpaid customers and home prepaid WiFi customers just have to go to the Rewards section of the new GlobeOne app and tap “convert data.” Prepaid users get 1 point for 1GB of data, and postpaid users get 5 points for the same amount of data.
- Donations will be coursed through Globe’s partner organizations such as the ABS-CBN Foundation, Ayala Foundation, the GMA Kapuso Foundation, and Rise Against Hunger Philippines.
- GCash has also launched its #GCashGivesBack QR code and “pay bill” wallet to collect donations for quake victims. Amounts gathered will be sent to its partner NGOs involved in relief efforts in Abra and other quake-hit areas. Users can also opt to scan the GCash QR code of its partner NGOs to directly send them funds.
To support quake-affected individuals, KonsultaMD, Globe’s telehealth platform, is offering FREE consultations with a general physician for 1 month.
Using the code LIBRENGKONSULTA, quake survivors may avail of unlimited voice KonsultaMD consultations between July 27 and August 31, with one free video consultation within the same period. Through the app, patients will receive necessary prescriptions, laboratory requests and medical certificates electronically.
KonsultaMD is also offering psychosocial support for quake victims in need of mental health consultations by using the voucher HEREFORU, with unlimited sessions within the same period. They just have to download the KonsultaMD app and input the voucher codes to redeem the free consultations.
The July 27 quake damaged critical infrastructure and heritage sites in parts of Northern Luzon, leaving nearly 80,000 families affected, according to government data.
