‘Gawad Makabata’ awarded to Tarlac

TARLAC CITY – The Provincial Government of Tarlac’s Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC) headed by Gov. Susan Yap was awarded the Gawad Makabata by the Department of Social and Welfare Development Region III in line 

with the observance of the National Children’s Month. 

The award was received by Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Robert Magno from DSWD-3 director Jonathan Dirain.

Tarlac province was the only awardee for Makabata award in the entire Central Luzon Region.

Gawad Makabata Award is aimed to recognize LCPCs who ensured child’s rights mainstreaming in their local plans with exemplary initiatives for the promotions and protection of children in their community. 

Magno thanked the DSWD Field Office III for the recognition and said that during pandemic, child’s rights concerns are exacerbated due to restrictions imposed.

In a statement, Gov. Yap said that the efforts of the province in protecting the welfare of children was recognized and vowed to strengthen even more its programs in protecting and promoting the welfare of a Tarlaqueño child.

“This award is a testament that we are for the protection and promotion of children in our province,” she said.
