CLARK FREEPORT – “We are taking the lead!”
Thus, said Josh Go during the ceremonial switching of the electrical inverters capable of generating 604-kilowatt of electricity powered by the first industrial-scale solar power rooftop project in any freeport zone in the country.
Go, is the plant manager of Viskase Asia Pacific Corp., a manufacturing firm of cellulose, plastic and collagen casings as well as packaging materials for meat products here.
Go also said the plant here is the first solar power rooftop for the whole Viskase group around the world.
The solar rooftop project consists of more than 1,800 Canadian solar panels covering about 75 percent of the entire roof of the plant and 12 Hwawei inverters.
Go said it represents about 25 percent of the total power consumption of the company on a day-to-day basis.
He also noted a $10,000 savings for the company and the elimination of eight tons of carbon footprint.
“Beyond the financial aspect of our project, our responsibility is to really go into renewable energy in term s of preserving the environment,” Go said.
“This will change totally the architecture of our operation and we are happy and proud to be the first,” he added.
