EXTENDING A helping hand, SM Foundation Inc. through the Operation Tulong Express served as one of the responders to flood-stricken cabalens of the City of San Fernando by giving immediate assistance to communities in form of relief goods and medical mission on Tuesday and Thursday respectively.
As the super typhoon Ompong has come and gone concentrating in the northern part of the region, SM Foundation Inc. through the Operation Tulong Express in partnership with Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) sent out volunteers from SM City San Fernando Downtown to distribute Kalinga Packs which consists of bottled mineral water, rice, ready-to-eat meals, instant noodles and detergent bar soaps to affected areas in Barangay Sta Lucia and San Pedro Cutud benefiting 800 affected families.
Moreover, immediately after the relief operation is the Gamot para sa Kapwa medical mission to flood-stricken cabalens in Barangay San Nicolas, Sta Lucia, San Pedro Cutud and Sta Monica. A community immersion serving almost a thousand beneficiaries held at San Nicolas Covered Court. Together with the City Health Office headed by Dra. Eloisa Aquino, volunteer doctors and City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD) units of the City of San Fernando, the medical mission caravan provided services of medical consultations, laboratories such as blood pressure check-up, blood sugar testing and monitoring, height and weight checkup; diagnostic services such as X-ray, Electro Cardiograph (ECG), urinalysis and free medicines. The SM Foundation Operation Tulong Express is spearheaded by SM City San Fernando Downtown Mall Manager Lana Erroba, in partnership with the local government of the City of San Fernando.
