BONGABON, Nueva Ecija – A former communist rebel who later became an active member of the militant group
Alab Katipunan was killed by four unidentified suspects at about 7:30 a.m. Thursday in Barangay Macabaclay here, police reported yesterday.
SPO1 Adrian Sioson , case investigator, identified the victim as Renato Saddoy alias Ka Leroy,49, farmer and reportedly a former member of the New People’s Army (NPA). Investigation showed the victim was driving a hand tractor with trailer on the way to his farm when two of the suspects alighted from a motorcycle and shot the victim at close range.
The two served as lookouts. The victim sustained gunshot wounds in different parts of his body which caused his instantaneous death, police added. “The suspects immediately fled,” Sioson said.
The suspects reportedly covered their faces with t-shirt, which is commonly sported by farm workers.
Sioson said investigation is in progress to determine the identities as well as the motive of the suspects.
