How long did it last?
“Mga seven or eight months. Actually, hindi naman siya eight months. Miscalculated nga, e… mga seven… less.” smilingly says Ellen.
Was it already them when President Duterte took his oath as President of the Phiippines in 2016?
“Ah…nanliligaw. I think, kasi ako yung type na ako yung nanliligaw dati. Siya kasi, hindi based dito [sa Manila], palagi siyang pumupunta dito. Until sinabi niya na, ‘Alam mo bang nililigawan kita?’ So, ayun.”
Did she met President Duterte?
“Ngayon lang, but yung father ko and the President knew each other.”
Ellen’s dad Mr. Allan Modesto Adarna owns a chain of motels in Cebu, Davao, and Manila. Before the 2016 holiday season Ellen split up with Baste. However, the actress refused to talk about the reason why they separated.
“Amin na lang yun, baka patayin niya ako, Ha!ha!Ha! It was a very weird breakup. Instead of parang girlfriend na ‘Good morning,’ ganyan-ganyan, ang text niya, ‘Ano kaya kung maghiwalay tayo?’ Question mark. Siya ang nagsabi. And then, ayun, hindi na kami nag-usap.”
Was it a shocking moment?
“Actually,hindi ako na-shock!”
Were they incompatible?
“Hindi. Actually, nagkakasundo talaga kami ni Baste. He is like my best friend na he can talk to me about anything, and I can talk to him about anything also. May time na naghiwalay kami na hindi kami nag-usap. Yes, it’s part of the process, may ganun. Hindi kami naguusap, and then after New Year, we spoke…”
“Kasi ang dami pa niyang gamit sa bahay e. Yung surfboard niya, nasa bahay. Marami pa siyang gamit sa bahay. Actually, nong nagpunta siya sa bahay, hindi ko siya nakita, kasi tulog ako. Pumunta siya sa second day, hindi kami nagkita, kasi tulog ako, may trabaho ako. Late na kasi siyang pumunta. And then, last week lang, nagkita kami, magkasama with friends. Okey na. Okey na talaga, friends na lang talaga kami.”
Is there any possible reconciliation between them?
The 28-year old actress said “Sa ngayon, parang wala, we’re just really better off as friends.”
“Hindi ko nga inamin na naging kami,e. Pero nung nag-break kami sinabi ko. Because… ano ba? Dati kasi, ang daming ano… Parang iwas ano na lang… Iwas-tsismis. Iwas-gulo. And it’s better na parang kami na lang dalawa, na kami na lang ang may alam, and some friends and yung mga close friends namin, para walang masyadong gulo.”
Ellen admits Baste is her 9th boyfriend. Aside from Baste the rest are private citizens. Will she fall for someone from showbiz?
“Yeah, why not? Kung magkasundo.”
Is she friends with Baste after the break up?
“Oo, magkasama kami… wala pang one week, we still are really good friends. Kasi we can talk about anything, sayang naman na maging bitter kami sa isa’t isa.” Is she open to date new guys, especially Valentine’s Day is near
“I’m open. Hindi naman ako naghahanap talaga, but, yeah. Pero Okey lang ako with friends, kasama ang buong barkada… Actually, okey lang, wala akong pakialam.” she stressed.
