CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Something happened on the way to the executive lounge on the 7th Floor of the administrative building of the DOH-Jose B. Lingad Memorial General Hospital during the inauguration of its newest health facilities – the Center for Infectious Diseases and the Tropical Medicine and the Central Luzon Infectious Disease Referral Laboratory – on Friday, May 29.
The elevator the VIPs took at the ground floor closed but did not move and stayed just closed, trapping inside the party of Health Secretary Ted Herbosa, Gov. Lilia “Nanay” Pineda, Pampanga 3rd District Rep. Mica Gonzales and her mother, board member Mymy Mercado Gonzales, and Asian Development Bank Country Director for the Philippines Andrew Jeffries.

It took some minutes, not to say anxious moments if not frayed nerves, before a number of hospital staff and security details managed to pry open the elevator door and took the disconcerted VIPs out.
So, a witness at the site – requesting anonymity for fear of reprisal — reported to Punto. JBL Hospital officials could not be reached for comment as of posting time. Punto is open for their own narrative of the incident at their convenience.
Meanwhile, the presence of the ADB country director could have made an international incident of the elevator failure. Just saying. Punto Editor
