ORANI, Bataan – The payout for the educational assistance program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development turned out smooth and orderly although still with long lines for beneficiaries in three of the 11 towns and one city in Bataan Saturday.
Payout for applicants in Samal, Orani, and Hermosa was conducted at the Orani gymnasium. It was exactly the opposite scenario from the big number of people that turned out at the DSWD field office in Hermosa last Aug. 20, the first day of the payout.
Falling in separate lines at the gym for verification, the applicants had to present documents that parents applied for online and received a notification from DSWD to come this Saturday.
After passing the verification process, the applicant proceeded to the assessment area and then to the payout. There were long lines but orderly in the verification area only.
DSWD Bataan field office said they have targeted for payout 1,800 beneficiaries from the three towns.
Jennifer Gacura of Barangay Sapa, Samal, said she claimed for financial assistance of her Grade 5 child who is a person with disability. “Ay salamat po, malaking tulong ito para sa pag-aaral niya, pambayad sa mga bayarin sa eskwelahan.” She said she did not find it hard to apply. “Maayos naman ang sistema.” Gacura received P1,000 in cash.
In Sta. Lucia, Samal, Barangay chairman Hector Forbes kept on reminding parents through a loud speaker not to go to the Orani gym in the absence of a notification from the DSWD.
Forbes said only those who have applied online for the educational assistance and received a reply from DSWD could proceed to the gym and would be attended to.
