Dynamite fishers nabbed

    SUBIC BAY FREEPORT – Two fishermen were caught red handed by elements of the PNP Maritime Group illegally fishing with the use of dynamite along the coastal water of Barangay Nagbalayong, Morong, Bataan, Tuesday morning, police said.

    Supt. Amador Corpus, Regional Maritime Office 3 chief, identified the  suspects as Joseph Devera, 44 and Joseph Merencilla, 35, both residents of Sitio Panibatuhan, Barangay Nagbalayong, Morong, Bataan.

    Report said that at about 5 a.m., a team led by SPO3 Albert Hong, 301st Maritime Police Station Subic chief, was conducting seaborne patrol when they heard loud explosions prompting them to rush to  the area.

    The suspects were caught on board an unmarked motorized banca and confiscated from their possession were 80-kilos of assorted fishes.

    Investigation conducted by PO2 Mariel Cuizon, found out that Devera has a pending alias warrant of arrest issued by Judge Angelito Balderama of RTC, Branch 1 of Balanaga City for violation of illegal fishing.

    The suspects were in custody of the PNP Maritime Group facing violation of Paragraph 3, Section 88 of RA 8550 (illegal fishing), otherwise known as the Philippine Fisheries Code of 1998.
