BACOLOR, Pampanga – Ron Earvin Dungca, son of the three-term mayor, grew up seeing his father serve the people “as if he is one of them.”

“My father treats well his constituents. Ang galing makisama lalo na sa mahihirap,” said the 20-year-old son of Mayor Romeo “Buddy” Dungca.

“I want to do the same if I get the chance,” said Ron, who expressed his intention to run for mayor in 2010.

Ron vowed to prioritize education once elected as mayor. He added that he will grant scholarship to his constituents like what his father has done over the last eight years.

“Not just for elementary and high school but for college as well,” added Ron, a fourth year college student at the Angeles University Foundation taking up Bachelor of Science in Business Management. He was a product of the San Beda College elementary and high school departments.

Ron stressed to Punto that “he decided to continue the legacy of his father on his own.”

He recalled that when he told his father that he had wanted to replace him as mayor the latter laughed. That was sometime late last year.

“But now I could safely say the mayor has realized that I mean business. He is supporting me all the way,” said Ron.

Ron disclosed that three-term Councilor Nilo “Pogi” Caballa will be his running-mate for vice mayor. He added that most of the incumbent councilors will join his ticket.
