The naked child was tied on the neck with his picture captioned “my new pet dog”. The picture has gone viral and elicited bad comments against the mother.
The 23-year-old mother from a quiet village in Orani, Bataan admitted to have posted the picture of her baby “bilang katuwaan lang”. She asked forgiveness for what she did, saying she loves her only child dearly and has no bad intention and meant no harm to her baby.
DSWD, however, was not convinced and continued with its “rescue” order for the child.
“Temporary under care muna namin sa Reception Study Center for Children (RSCC) ang bata. Pwede naman siyang bisitahin ng nanay upang pa-dedehin,” said Lucrecia Cruz, head of the center in Lubao, Pampanga.
“Ang nanay ng bata ay magkakaroon ng counseling at psychological intervention.
Maaaring ma-release ang bata depende sa assessment sa mga magulang kung kaya na ba nilang mapangalagaan ang anak,” Cruz said.
The child was brought to the Orani District Hospital to check his physical condition before proceeding to the DSWD center in Lubao.
“Pull-out muna namin ang bata to undergo psycho-social intervention samantalang ang nanay naman sasailalim sa psychological evaluation,” said Monette Gantang, social worker of the 1st District of Bataan.
Elizabeth Cruz, social worker of Orani, Bataan, said the parents of the child reported to their office and explained what happened.
“Ipinaliwanag nila ang nangyari at sinabing katuwaan lamang yon. Sinabihan ko sila na malaking kamalian iyon at hindi maaaring katuwaan lamang ang ganoon sapagka’t malaki ang pananagutan nila sa anak,” the municipal social worker said.
The father and grandfather of the child asked that the mother be not judged as a bad one. “She is a good and a caring mother. Please forgive her for what she did,” they said.
