CAMILING, Tarlac (PIA) — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) extended government assistance to about 1,174 households in Camiling, Tarlac through the Unified Package for Livelihoods, Industry, Food, and Transport (UPLIFT) Assistance.
The initiative is part of the government’s efforts, in line with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., to provide immediate financial support to vulnerable families amid continuing economic challenges.
Among the beneficiaries was 82-year-old Jaime Eneria, who said the assistance would help cover the cost of his maintenance medication.

“Itong natanggap ko ay pang-maintenance ko sa gamot kasi ang sakit ko po ay anemia. Nawawala po ang aking hemoglobin kaya nagme-maintenance ako ngayon (The assistance I received will be used for my maintenance medication because I have anemia. My hemoglobin level drops, which is why I am currently taking maintenance medicine),” he stated.
As a senior citizen, Eneria said the financial assistance is a significant help, particularly for those who have regular medical expenses like him.
“Nagpapasalamat po ako sa DSWD sa maganda nilang pagtupad at pag-iimplementa ng batas para sa kapakanan ng higit na nakararaming Pilipino (I am grateful to the DSWD for its good implementation of the law for the welfare of the greater number of Filipinos),” he shared.
Meanwhile, Marijoy Milla, a non-accredited barangay health worker who earns around P1,000 a month, said the assistance would help augment her limited income and support her family’s daily needs.
She likewise expressed her gratitude to the DSWD and the national government for extending financial assistance to families with limited sources of income.
“Maraming salamat po sa ibinigay ninyong tulong. Malaking tulong po ito para sa amin na mga mababa lang ang kinikita sa araw-araw at nahihirapan sa pang-araw-araw na kinakailangan (Thank you very much for the assistance you provided. This is a big help to those of us who have low daily income and struggle to meet our everyday needs),” Milla said.
The beneficiaries belong to poor and near-poor households identified through the 2024 Community-Based Monitoring System.
Each received P2,000 and will continue to receive the same amount until December 2026 to help address their basic needs and provide additional financial support for their households. (CLJD/AJRR, PIA Region 3-Tarlac)
