BALANGA CITY (PIA) — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the installation of solar-powered street lights along major roads in Bataan, improving nighttime visibility and helping make travel safer for motorists, workers, and nearby communities.
According to the DPWH Bataan 3rd District Engineering Office, the project forms part of the government’s continuing efforts to improve road safety by enhancing roadside visibility, particularly during nighttime travel.
Newly installed solar-powered street lights cover several strategic routes in the province, including Roman Expressway, Alas-Asin Port Road, and EPZA Bypass Road in Mariveles.
Additional installations were completed along portions of Sabang-Mabayo Road and within the Bataan Technological Park, Inc. area in Morong, as well as along Bataanes Road in Bagac and sections of Bagac-Mariveles Road.
The project supports the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to strengthen public safety through improved road infrastructure and better visibility on major transport corridors.
By providing better lighting along roads that connect residential areas, workplaces, ports, and industrial zones, the project is expected to contribute to safer travel conditions and support the movement of people and goods across the province.
Use of solar-powered lighting also promotes energy-efficient and sustainable infrastructure by reducing dependence on conventional power sources while providing continuous lighting along critical road sections. (CLJD/RPQ, PIA Region 3-Bataan)
