BALER, Aurora (PIA) — Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed infrastructure projects worth P39.2 million in two towns in the province of Aurora.

These include the P9.8-million road improvement initiative covering a 1.7-kilometer section of a local road at barangay Bayabas in Dipaculao, and the P29.4-million flood control project at barangay Bayanihan in Maria Aurora.

DPWH Aurora District Engineer Roderick Andal said the projects were made possible through funding allocated in the 2023 national budget and were completed during the first half of the year.

“Roads and flood control structures provide communities with improved access, safety, and economic opportunities. They also play a pivotal role in safeguarding against floods, protecting property, and offering assistance during emergencies, thereby benefiting both residents and the environment,” Andal emphasized.

The road improvement project at barangay Bayabas enhances accessibility that will potentially contribute to the development and growth of the local tourism industry.

Construction of the 270.71-lineal meter concrete slope protection along Pacugao River at barangay Bayanihan, on the other hand, features the installation of sheet piles as a foundation for the concrete slope protection that will shield the adjacent household areas and barangay from potential flooding.
