Don’t put your guards down, Pineda tells cops

    CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – “They should not put their guards down.”

    Thus said Gov. Lilia “Nanay Baby” Pineda as she urged the police to continue its relentless operations against all forms of criminality following the killing and arrest of alleged members of two notorious syndicates in two separate towns in Pampanga on Sunday.

    Pineda congratulated the Pampanga police led by provincial director, Senior Supt. EdgardoTinio.

    Tinio disclosed that at least five firearms and two grenades had been seized from five suspects in operations in Mexico and Minalin towns.

    Tinio said four members of the Den-Den Group were arrested in Mexico after an encounter against the suspects who exchanged gunshots in a checkpoint in Barangay Anao.

    They were allegedly involved in carnapping, drug pushing, robbery and extortion and gun-for-hire activities and they operate in Central Luzon.

    Tinio identified one of the victims as Gider “Den-Den” De Leon. He had a standing warrant of arrest. 

    Tinio said they have yet to identify the three other suspects who were killed with De Leon. They were declared dead on arrival in a nearby hospital.

    Mexico police led by Supt. Ryan David confiscated two .38 caliber pistols, and two hand grenades from De Leon’s group.

    In Minalin, police arrested a member of akyat-bahay gang member as he and his companions had tried to elude arrest.

    Zerdan Z. Fortaleza, 35, of Montalban, Rizal, was arrested after he and his companions had tried to rob the house of a certain Christian David in San Simon, Pampanga. 

    The police confiscated one .38 snub-nosed revolver, one colt super .38 revolver and 9mm Armscor pistol from the scene of the crime.
