CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The city government bagged two awards in the recently concluded 8th Central Luzon Excellence Awards for Health of the Department of Health held at the Kingsborough Convention Center here.
“For its commendable efforts and investments in improving the sanitation condition of the locality, for prioritizing environmental health leading to the of the water supply, sanitation services, and overall hygiene of the local residents,” the was conferred the Most Improved Local Government Unit in Environmental Health Services Initiatives Award.
The city also received the Excellence Award for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management for Health (DRRMH) Institutionalization in the city category for meeting all the minimum requirements for the DRRM-H Institutionalization, namely: “1) having a signed, updated, disseminated, and tested DRRM-H Plan; 2) the presence of a Health Emergency Response Team; 3) having accessible Health Emergency Commodities; and 4) a functional Operations Center.”
In accepting the awards, Mayor Vilma Caluag extended her gratitude to DOH-3 for recognizing the efforts of the city to provide better and more efficient health services to its constituents and pledged to do more as health care is enshrined as one of her priorities in her 10-point agenda, citing her flagship programs such as the Fernandino Dialysis Center which offers free hemodialysis treatments, and a universal health care program through the KAYABE KArd program to cater to every marginalized sector of the city.
