ANGELES CITY — The Department of the Interior and Local Government said the peace and order council (POC) of the city government here under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. is 100% functional.
This, after the DILG released the list of local government units in Central Luzon with functional POCs for 2022.
Mayor Lazatin said that the city will continuously deliver programs which cater to peace and order to ensure the protection, safety, and welfare of his constituents.
“We, in Angeles City, will continue to adhere to laws and policies undertaking peace and order,” Lazatin vows.
In the DILG’s 2022 POC performance audit, Angeles City garnered the following percentage points per pillar — Organization (10%); Meetings (20%); Policies, Plan, and Budget (25%); Reports (24.37%); General Supervision (20%); and two bonus points for Innovation.
To recall, Mayor Lazatin had ordered the Angeles City Police Office for a 24/7 police visibility.
In addition, the leadership of Mayor Lazatin has allotted a budget for the weekly gas allowance intended for the 24/7 police presence.
During Lazatin’s inaugural speech, he vowed to maintain peace and order in the city by implementing the 24/7 911 hotline linked to the Angeles City Emergency Disaster Command Center to further minimize emergency response time.
Angeles City has maintained a low crime rate for the past four years of Mayor Lazatin’s first term, saying he wants to keep it that way.
DILG’s assessment of the ratings is annually conducted to evaluate the functionality of regional, provincial, city, and municipal peace and order councils.
The POC performance audit is “to acknowledge the innovations done by the councils and their secretariats, enhance their strategies and interventions and build an avenue to showcase their best practices.”
