CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Pampanga 3rd District Board Member Johnny ‘JQ’ Quiambao has failed to extend his leave which lapsed on September 15 and has apparently opted to stay in Canada rather than face the rape case filed against him by a 16-year-old girl who is now pregnant.

Sangunniang Panlalawigan (SP) Secretary Luis Rivera said on Friday that Quiambao has yet to communicate with his office regarding any extension to his leave of absence. He earlier filed a leave up to August 4 when he left for Canada last July but extended it up to September after being charged with rape by a former waitress residing in Bacolor town.

“Malamang mag-extend ‘yan,” said Rivera. He added that it will not be a problem under the SP rules if Quiambao extended his leave anew.

Asked to comment if Quiambao is considered on AWOL — absence without official leave – with the expiration of his extended leave of absence, Rivera said “not yet.”

He disclosed that Quiambao would be considered AWOL if he fails to attend the regular SP meetings for three consecutive weeks.

Earlier, Quiambao wrote a letter to the SP members and apologized to them. He added that he was “being tried by publicity.”

The complaint filed last August 4 by the victim and her mother before the provincial prosecutor indicated that Quiambao, 45, is facing more than simple sexual misconduct but statutory rape amid the claim of the girl she was only 15 when Quiambao allegedly forced himself on her.
