HANGGANG ngayon pla di pa rin naka-move on ang ABS dahil sa paglayas sa kanila ni Derek Ramsay.
Did you know ban pa rin ang aktor sa alin mang show nila? Heart Evangelista, who moved to GMA7, has been allowed to promote their movie, “Trophy Wife,” at the Kapamilya network but in the case of Derek, co-star John Estrada is not even allowed to mention his name when John plugged their movie in “Aquino and Abunda.”
Instead, he referred to Derek as the man being linked to Kris Aquino. He was also removed from the movie’s trailers being shown on ABS. And when Cristine Reyes appeared in “Showtime,” she was also forbidden to mention Derek and their director, Andoy Ranay, who used to be with ABS before moving to GMA7.
“It hurts, lalo na nga’t I have many friends there who remain to be my friends up to now,” sabi ni Derek. “I respect their opinion. At the end of the day, it’s business and I can understand from a business point of view the decision that they’ve made. If I’d be given the chance, I wish we could all sit down and talk para magkaayos-ayos na kami.
From my end, I do not have any anger or hatred with ABS-CBN. I would like to say it again, I have so much respect for them and what they’ve done for me. ABS-CBN is still the number one network. For me, I feel proud na nakaka tulong ako to a smaller network like TV5 to grow.”
Derek is confident that “Trophy Wife” will be a blockbuster even if his face or name is not shown by ABS. “We have a good movie and I’m proud of it. The story is good and the acting of Cristine Reyes in the title role is impressive.
She plays a woman married to my brother, John Estrada, but will do her best to seduce me. Later on, there will be a twist where her plan for revenge will be revealed. Viewers will find it very exciting, lalo na nga’t maganda talaga ang pagkakadirek dito ni Director Andoy Ranay.”
Derek is really busy these days. He’s in the Cinemalaya entry, “The Janitor,” playing an offbeat role as a bank robber and co-starring with Dennis Trillo, Richard Gomez and Raymond Bagatsing. And he’s also shooting the Metro Manila Filmfest entry “English Only Please,” with Jennylyn Mercado, where he plays a jologs guy who doesn’t speak English.
On TV, he’s starting TV5’s new season of “Amazing Race.”
