CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The Provincial Government, on the initiative of Gov. Dennis “Delta” Pineda, sent relief supplies to more than a thousand families severely affected by Typhoon Jolina in Candaba town.

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) headed by Angie Blanco, facilitated the distribution in Brgy. San Agustin.

A total of 1,600 relief supplies were delivered, benefiting 1,587 households. Each pack contains cans of sardines and corned beef and rice.

“Lubos pong naapektuhan ang ating mga kabalen dyan sa lugar na yan kaya umantabay ang Kapitolyo para mabigyan sila agad ng saklolo,” said Blanco, also special assistant to the governor.

Rains and flooding caused by Typhoon Jolina have reached 2 to 10 feet in depth in the community, according to Mayor Rene Maglanque.

“Kaya kaagad na tumugon ang provincial government sa liderato ni Gov. Delta dahil sa marami nga ang nalubog sa ating mga kabahayan.  Salamat na lamang at mabilis ang pagresponde at pag-antabay ng kapitolyo para mabigyan kami ng saklolo,” the mayor said.

Candaba is considered one of those flood-prone municipalities because it sits on swamps.

Former congresswoman Dr. Anna York Bondoc also assisted in the distribution of the food packs.
