The City Government of San Fernando ordered the closure of a convenience store in Barangay San Agustin on April 26, 2020 for violating an Executive Order on prohibiting the sale of alcoholic beverages or liquor in the city.

The Philippine National Police San Fernando, Business License and Permit Division, and City Health Office-Environmental Health and Sanitation Division led a buy-bust operation at the store, which resulted to the issuance of closure order and arrest of three individuals—the seller and two customers.

More than a thousand bottles of alcoholic beverages of different kinds amounting to at least P70,000 and P250 cash were confiscated from the seller.

The apprehended individuals now have to post bail of around P3,000 for their release, under the offenses of “Non-cooperation and Disobedience.” It can be recalled that on March 23, 2020,

Mayor Edwin “EdSa” Santiago released Executive Order No. CMO 2020-031, ordering the temporary ban on any person to sell, furnish, offer, buy, or serve intoxicating liquor within the capital city.
