BALANGA CITY — Bataan on Saturday and Sunday recorded 574 new confirmed cases of the coronavirus disease, 542 new recoveries and 11 additional deaths, latest announcement of Gov. Albert Garcia showed.

With the new data for two days, the number of those who tested positive of Covid–19 rose to 21,456 with 4,089 active cases while those who recovered to 16,613, and the total casualties to 754.

Balanga City has eased out Mariveles in having the highest number of active cases. Report showed that Balanga City has 830 cases, Mariveles – 686, Dinalupihan – 632, Limay – 530, Orion – 244, Orani – 210, Morong – 204, Hermosa – 190, Samal – 178, Abucay – 169, Pilar – 114, and Bagac – 102.

Mariveles, home of thousands of factory workers, for the past weeks had become the epicenter of Covid-19 in the province.

To address the problem, the provincial government opened more vaccination sites in Mariveles. The 26th inoculation site in the province was inaugurated Monday in the upland barangay of Batangas Dos, the 7th in the industrial town.

The governor said the new vaccination center will cater to priority groups A1 to A4.

Bataan continues to be under modified enhanced community quarantine until Sept. 30, 2021.
