Senior Inspector Larry Valencia, Samal police chief, considered their anti-drug and anti-criminality campaigns successful.
He attributed the prevailing favorable peace and order in the area aside from cooperative residents to the full support given to the police by the municipal government headed by Mayor Gene dela Fuente.
“The Bataan police provincial office under Senior Supt. Benjamin Silo, Jr., provincial director, is also very supportive of what we are doing,” Valencia said.
Samal has 14 barangays with a population of more than 35,000 people. It has just celebrated its 376th founding year last April 20. It is the second oldest town in Bataan, next to Abucay, placed under the spiritual ministration of the early Dominicans in 1641.
The agricultural town is the site of two big industries – a Thai feeds factory and a paper mill.
The coastal waters abound with kapis shells, alamang, tahong and talaba. The stunning municipal hall is beautifully adorned with kapis and so with the annual Christmas decorations.
The town is also known for its araro cookies.
