CAPAS, Tarlac— The sports facilities now being constructed at the New Clark City (NCC) are on track for the holding of the Southeast Asian (SEA) Games next year.

This developed as leaders of the Philippine SEA Games Organizing Committee (Phisgoc) inspected the sports facilities on Saturday as the Philippines gears up to host the 30th SEA Games in 2019.

The facilities are part of the NCC’s Phase1A development which Infrastructure Developer AlloyMTD intends to finish by October 2019.

The world-class sports complex includes an athletic stadium with a 20,000 seating capacity, an aquatic center with a 2,000 seating capacity, and an athletes’ village that can accommodate up to 1,000 athletes.

“The athletes’ village has a total of 525 units, 95 of which are specially intended for persons with disabilities (PWDs); gym amenities, library and conference rooms in each fl oor; kitchen and dining area; basketball court, swimming pool, and deck gardens,” said Arrey Perez, Phisgoc deputy director general for athletes’ village.

AlloyMTD president Nicholas David said the NCC construction is on track and is confi dent that Phase1A will be completed ahead of schedule.

Phisgoc officials also led the erection of steel columns for the athletic stadium together with Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) president and CEO Vivencio “Vince” Dizon.

Clark will serve as the main hub of the 2019 SEA Games with the aquatics and athletics event to be held at the NCC.
