Confusion on Pope prophecies

All these prophecies about our apocalyptic times can sometimes get confusing.

First, there was that remark from Garabandal seer Conchita Gonzalez about “only three more popes” remaining when she heard news of the death of  Pope John XXIII in 1963. Since the late Pope John Paul II was the third, what would the prophecy have of resigned Pope Benedict XVI?

This, amid the prophecy of St. Malachy in the 12th century that after Pope Benedict XVI, someone he referred to as Peter the Roman would follow and after him, “the end.”

My view is that when Conchita quoted the Blessed Mother about “only three more popes”, there actually was an antecedent that the seer might have missed. The Blessed Mother could have referred to the three as assuming the seat of St. Peter before the start of tribulation, perhaps in the Church or in the world or both.

For one thing, there’s the unusual and unexpected resignation of Benedict XVI and the controversies, particularly sex scandals, that mounted during his papacy.

Also, it would seem that unusual happenings in the natural world seemed to have started to peak since Benedict XVI became pope. I suggest to readers searching on youtube.com ”fidockave” who did a splendid documentary series culled from news reports on aberrations in nature in the recent years all over the world.

Now, in regard to St. Malachy’s Peter the Roman, there are also conflicts. One alleged prophecy said this pope to succeed Benedict XVI would be a pope of the Blessed Virgin who would be martyred in Jerusalem and therefore would be the pope in Don Bosco’s vision.

The prophecy said that even before the conclave to choose Benedict’s successor, this next pope is already aware he would be, as this had already been revealed to him.

But he has kept silence out of prudence and humility. His election into the papacy, therefore, would come as a surprise to many, as he is not in the list of papabili or those listed as top candidates for papacy.

There are a few, and they are few, who hold vision of the next pope being evil, and that he would be put in place by the “one world people.” I personally don’t hold this view. But then I am much open to waiting and seeing at this time.

As regards St. Malachy’s statement of “the end” after Peter the Roman, there seems no doubt even among those who conflict in their views on other prophecies that the perspective is the end of an era, not the end of the world.  There are visionaries referring to “the end of the world as we know it.”

Regardless of the uncertainties of our times, the message of the Blessed Virgin in Medjugorje comforts.

She reminds us that no matter what happens, the only safe way for us is to go back to God NOW, because none of us was made for this transitory world.

Thus, the Blessed Virgin Mary said in Medjugorje on Aug. 25, 2001: “Dear children: Today I call all of you to decide for holiness. May holiness be in the first place in your work and in your speech and always in your thoughts and in each situation, little children. In his way, you will also put it into practice; little by little, step by step, prayer and a decision for holiness will enter into your family.

“Be real with yourselves, and do not bind yourselves to material things but to God. And do not forget, little children, that your life is as passing as a flower. Thank you for having responded to my call.”
