BALANGA CITY — The chapter of the United Architects of the Philippines (UAP) in this city  will hold its fourth general membership meeting on Friday, Oct. 29, 2021  with the theme “Building green for climate action and for a clean environment for a healthy world” in line with World Architecture Day.

Chapter president Karl Engelene Elvambuena Poblete said the meeting will be divided into three parts starting with product presentations in part 1, webinar seminar under part 2, and business meeting/Halloween party in part 3.

GT Stoneworks and Buildura will make the presentation with the hope that architects will appreciate the products and recommend the materials to their clients.

The two companies, also sponsors for the event, have 20 to 30 minutes to promote their products, after which a Q & A portion follows.

Poblete said they have invited environment planner Jonathan Maldupana as their resource speaker in the webinar.

The webinar is accredited with the professional regulation commission with pre-approved one point of continuing professional development (CPD).

As architects, Poblete said they need 45 CPD points in a cycle of three years so they must at least have 15 CPD points every year. With the pandemic, she said that CPD required in the renewal of license is waived until Dec. 31, 2021.

In the business meeting that follows, a drastic action by the UAP–Bataan leadership will be instituted to those who have not attended meetings for years. The inactive members will be issued a transfer form. An architect not belonging to an organization cannot renew his PRC license.

“There will be a purge of inactive members as indicated by our poster patterned after the American horror/thriller film series  ‘The Purge’,” Poblete said.

She said she has announced of the purge during their second general membership meeting as part of the cleansing process in the chapter.

The roster of the Bataan chapter shows 350 members but she said that only 200 are members of good standing who diligently pay annual dues to both the chapter and the national organizations.

During the Halloween party, members mostly via zoom  will be in green shirts inspired by the characters in a South Korean film “Squid Game.” In the film,  hundreds of people participate in deadly games for cash prize.

“As in the ‘Squid Game’, only one will win at the end of the day  a 42-inch Android TV set from Boysen paints but not in a deadly game,” Poblete said.

She said they will be strict in the implementation of health and safety protocols during their activities as safeguard against the coronavirus disease.

Poblete also shared  that during their  41st anniversary last Sept. 7, 2021, UAP in Balanga City donated cash during the Brigada Eskwela in the elementary schools in Balanga City, Abucay, and Pilar.
