BAGAC, Bataan – The provincial disaster risk reduction and management office
reported Friday that they were still waiting for the result of the assessment on the
extent of damage of mudslides to classrooms of an elementary school here.

Glensy Diwa, PDRRMO officer-in-charge, said the assessment is done in
coordination with the Mines and Geosciences Bureau of the Department of
Environment and Natural Resources and the Department of Education.

She said that they inspected the Quinawan Elementary School last August 8 and
found the facility affected by mud on the night of August 6. No one was reported
hurt in the incident.

She said that the school is one of the facilities used as evacuation area of the
villagers.

In the inspection were personnel of the Bagac municipal disaster risk reduction
management office, MGB and DepEd.

Diwa said the assessment will be very useful in determining courses of actions
from the barangay, municipal and provincial governments to ensure the safety of
residents of Quinawan.
