Classes in Bataan suspended for 2 weeks

Gov. Albert Garcia

BALANGA CITY — Classes in public schools in all levels in Bataan are suspended for two weeks from January 16 – 28, 2022 due to the surging cases of the coronavirus disease.

Gov. Albert Garcia made the announcement Friday after assistant schools division superintendent Roland Fronda issued the division memorandum suspending classes in public schools.

The governor said private schools can also declare suspension in consultation with the parents associations and officials of the respective schools.

Under the memorandum, all classes regardless of modality, submission of academic requirements and conduct of other teaching-related activities, including the second quarter examination, are effectively postponed for two weeks.

“Dahil suspendido ang mga klase, suspendido din ang pagsusumite ng mga requirements, pagsusulit, pamamahagi ng mga Universal Serial Bus on the Go at Service Level Management, at iba pang aktibidad,” Garcia said.

The 60 percent skeleton workforce for non-teaching employees will be implemented while teachers are asked to stay home. The governor said the number of teachers, students and school employees showing symptoms of Covid–19 is increasing.

“Hangad ko ang kaligtasan ng bawat isang mag-aaral maging ang lahat ng mga empleyado at guro sa lahat ng paaralan dito sa ating lalawigan. Patuloy nating sundin at isabuhay ang mga health and safety protocols, gaya ng pananatili sa ating mga tahanan, pag-iwas sa matataong lugar, pagsusuot ng face mask at palaging paghuhugas ng kamay gamit ang sabon at tubig o alcohol,” Garcia said.

Latest report showed that the number of those who tested positive of Covid–19 rose to 31,226 with active cases surging to 1,650 after the listing of 304 new confirmed cases.
Recoveries reached 28,350 with 15 newly-recovered while deaths climbed to 1,226 with the addition of two new casualties.
