CLARK FREEPORT – Seven international airlines, both full-service and low-cost carriers, have recently expressed “keen interest” in the Clark International Airport here.

In a media forum on Wednesday at the Widus Hotel and Casino here, Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC) President-CEO Emigdio Tanjuatco III disclosed that Malaysian full-service airline Rayani Air, regional carrier Thai Smile, Taiwanese new low-cost carrier V-Air, Singapore’s Jet Star, Indonesia’s Express Air, Air India, and Airline 4.0, a new carrier in the United States are “in talks with us for possible operations at the CIA.”

At the same time, Tanjuatco also revealed that 17 airlines participating in the Routes Asia 2016 to be held at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City on March 6 to 8, 2016 are set to visit the Clark International Airport on March 5 where CIAC officials will showcase the airport ‘s facilities and infrastructure in a bid to lure more flights at the 2,367-hectare civil aviation complex.

“Malaking bagay yung March 5 visit ng mga airlines sa (Clark) airport. Kasi, ito ang mga airlines na sasali sa Routes Asia at siguradong pag-uusapan nila ang Clark airport. At malay natin mag-decide yung iba na tingnan nila ang Clark para sa kanilang flights,” Tanjuatco said.

The visitors will fly to Clark from Manila and will also be given a quick tour of nearby Puning Hot Springs and will be hosted for lunch by Gov. Lilia G. Pineda where they will be regaled by a cultural show.

The Pampanga provincial government has taken a strong stand in the full development of the CIA as premier international gateway of the country.

Routes Asia is an essential event for all aviation based companies who wish to conduct business to, from and within the region. The event brings together a range of airlines, airports and tourism authorities, including some of the largest carriers from the whole Asian region.

Organized by UBM Asia, Routes Asia offers aviation industry organizations the opportunity to meet with some of the most influential aviation professionals from across the world.

The Clark International Airport currently hosts Qatar Airways, Asiana Airlines, Dragonair, Jin Air, CEBGO, Tiger Air of Singapore, AirAsia Berhad and Cebu Pacific Air.

Emirates is slated to resume its CIA flights by the end of March via the triangular Dubai-CebuClark route.
