ANGELES CITY- Noting its members as primary victims of the latest pork barrel scandal, the Kilusang Magbu-bukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) warned yesterday that the alleged surrender of Janet Lim-Napoles to Pres. Aquino “cannot diffuse the Filipino people’s clamor for the abolition of the pork barrel system.”
KMP Deputy Secretary General Randall Echanis also said that “Napoles’ surrender could be mere political drama designed to show that Aquino is serious in the so-called investigation on the pork barrel scam.”
He said “Aquino and his spin doctors may have exploited the feelers sent by Napoles’ camp, immediately hatched an ill-designed script for the so-called surrender to the President himself of the Pork Barrel Queen.”
“The Queen will never surrender to anyone but to the King,” he added.
“The so-called surrender and assurance of security to Napoles by Malacanang is the first sign of political accommodation extended by Aquino. Napoles can now be used as Aquino’s attack dog against the opposition while at the same time rejecting outright the people’s demand for the abolition of the presidential and congressional pork barrel,” Echanis also said.
The KMP reiterated call for the total abolition of the pork barrel system and hold accountable all those who have been involved in the pork barrel scam.
“The Filipino people should remain vigilant and continue to protest against the organized plunder of the nation’s coffers through the pork barrel system,” Echanis added.
