ANGELES CITY – City hall workers here have just been assured of a truly bountiful Christmas with Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. signing extra cash bonuses for them amounting to P15,000 for each.
As early as Oct. 5, the mayor instructed the local finance committee composed of the city budget office, the city accounting office, and the city treasurer’s office to immediately compute and prepare the year-end bonus of the city government employees.
On Thursday, Lazatin issued Memorandum No. 1198, Series of 2020 mandating the release of the additional cash benefits for qualified city government employees,comprising of the collective negotiation agreement bonus worth P5,000, the productivity enhancement incentive worth P5,000, and the service recognition incentive worth P5,000 on Dec. 22, 2020.
The bonuses amounting to P19,740,000 will cover atotal of 1,316 city hall employees, of whom 980 are permanent, 321 casual, and 15 contractual.
This is on top of the employees’ tax-free year-end bonus, equivalent to one-month basic salary, totaling P32,542,594; and the individual P5,000 cash gift, amounting to a total of P6,580,000 that will be received by the employees on Nov. 16.
Contract of Service employees who are qualified for the P3,000 cash incentive, amounting to a total of P8,415,000, will receive theirs on Dec. 10.
Lazatin said the release of bonuses and incentives is one way of ensuring financial security for the employees amid the coronavirus disease pandemic.
“This is also in recognition of all the efforts being done by our hardworking and dedicated city government employees, despite the many challenges presented by the Covid-19 pandemic. We want them to still be able to celebrate the coming holiday season,” he added.
The grant of year-end bonus is in accordance with Republic Act No. 66861, as amended by RA No. 8441, and under the Department of Budget Management Circular No. 2016-4.
