ANGELES CITY – The city government is set to file administrative charges against an official of treasurer’s office who reportedly lost some P.32 million pesos collection last week.

City Administrator Mark Allen Sison on Monday said they will file charges against Sonia Gepulle, senior administrative assistant of the city treasurer’s office. Gepulle reportedly left some P210,000 cash and P110,000 worth of checks under her table at the treasurer’s office and lost them after going to the comfort room.

Sison disclosed that Gepulle had wanted to return the lost cash by paying them monthly and on a staggered basis.

“But it’s government money and we could not just let her give them back that way,” he added.

Sison said they had offered Gepulle to tender her resignation and pay the lost money from her benefits. He added that Gepulle “had no bad record before the incident.”

Sison said the police may also file criminal charges against Gepulle.

Supt. Joselito Imperial, chief of the investigation and detective management branch, said they “are puzzled over the mysterious disappearance of the money.”

He added that they had recommended the filing of administrative charges against Gepulle.

“We invited Gepulle for questioning and she maintained that she lost the money which she left under her table before going to the comfort room,” said Imperial.

Imperial said Gepulle decided to prepare the collection and put it in a pouch before the bank could collect them on the same day they got lost.

“We have no suspects yet. Only the fellow workers of Gepulle were there when the money stolen,” added Imperial.
