PORAC, Pampanga – Re-electionist Mayor Jaime “Jing” Capil will have his unica hija for his running mate in 2025.

At Monday’s flag raising rites in front of the townhall here, incumbent Vice Mayor Francis “Budoy” Tamayo yielded his post to Ma. Jen Capil, her father’s chief of staff.

Ma. Jen Capil on her endorsement for the vice mayoralty post.

“I am formally introducing and endorsing to you the next vice mayor of Porac, the eldest child of our beloved Mayor Capil – Ma’am Jen Capil,” said Tamayo in Kapampangan before a cheering audience of municipal officials and employees.

Vowing his fealty to the man who chose him as running mate in 2022, Tamayo declared he would stand with the Capils until the end of the mayor’s term, and that he would serve in whatever capacity, “position being unimportant in matter of service.”

Accepting the endorsement, Jen Capil expressed her thanks to Tamayo for consistently supporting her father since his first run for the mayoralty in 2019 and said she would pursue the development programs of the vice mayor, notably the education of some 4,000 Porac scholars.

“I will not waste the trust that you gave to me,” Capil told Tamayo.

She likewise paid tribute to the Porac councilors, saying “they are not traditional politicians but genuine public servants” and noted that: “I am also a fighter just like my father.”

A magna cum laude graduate of Holy Angel University, Ma. Jen Capil is a certified public accountant and currently taking up law at the Ateneo de Manila.

Mayor Capil said his daughter will serve under the banner “Bayung Porac” which served as the catalyst for the fast-paced development of the town.

While admitting the different “challenges” the local government faced, Capil noted that “these only allowed [him] to further improve public services as a local chief executive.”
“My fellow workers in the government, my kabalens, my fellow Poraquenos, I ask you anew to hold on, to not give up. From the start, I promised you a government that is good, true and God-fearing which I delivered in a Porac we can all be proud of,” the mayor said.
Endorsing his daughter with parental pride, Capil enthused in Kapampangan: “As the saying goes, ‘whatever the tree, so shall the fruit be,’ hence, if I serve well so our next vice mayor shall serve as well.” Punto News Team/Contributed photos
