SAMAL, Bataan — Brigada Eskwela started Tuesday in an elementary school here
in preparation for the opening of elementary and secondary public schools on
Aug. 22.
Parents and teachers at the Samal South Elementary School in Barangay Sta. Lucia
joined hands in the cleanup of surroundings and classrooms.
Parents were clearing the plant boxes of weeds while the others were assisting
teachers in cleaning tables and chairs. Some teachers were busy cleaning their
classrooms and checking teaching materials and records.
A kindergarten teacher who requested anonymity said school cleaning is a
program under Brigada Eskwela that will go on until Aug. 26, but before Aug. 22,
the classrooms should already be ready for regular classes.
Asked for any problem, she said “May ilang problema tungkol sa gamit sa room,
tulad sa akin yong intended na upuan saka mesa para sa mga estudyante, yon ang
problem na nire-request namin sa principal.”
The teacher said that she has 22 students in the morning session and another 22
in the afternoon. She showed the tables and chairs in her classroom that she said
are not enough.
“May mga desks na ibinibigay sa akin para gamitin ko, eh for elementary talaga
yon. Kindergarten kasi more on activities, ang bata maraming gamit yan, so
kailangan enough na space para mas maganda sana ang classroom setting,” she
noted.
She said she was hopeful that her request for additional kindergarten chairs and
tables will be granted for the good of the children.
She added that when it comes to teaching, they are ready for in-classes because
ahead of time before the school opens, they are readying their lesson
requirements and the needs of the school children.
“Ready na physical environment, tables and chairs na lang ang kulang,” the
teacher said.
