BALANGA CITY — The Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) hosted the Director’s Cut Screening of the 1Bataan Film Contest 2026 on Oct. 15 at the COAS Amphitheater of its main campus, bringing together film enthusiasts, production teams, and aspiring storytellers to celebrate the stories, values, and everyday heroism of Bataeño families.
The event featured nine short film entries produced by various teams, showcasing their creativity, technical expertise, and storytelling skills in portraying the experiences and enduring values of the Pamilyang Bataeño.
Through their respective films, the participants highlighted the ordinary acts of courage, sacrifice, and compassion that reflect the strength of families and communities across Bataan.
In his inspirational message, Bataan Gov. Jose Enrique S. Garcia III emphasized the importance of recognizing the heroism found in everyday life and how these stories can inspire others.
“Yung mga ganitong kwento at mga heroism, pagiging bayani sa pang-araw-araw na buhay, ay ang nakakapagbigay inspirasyon sa ating lahat,” Garcia said.
The governor also served as one of the panelists and judges, joining fellow evaluators in assessing the film entries based on their creativity and production quality.
Representing BPSU president Dr. Ruby B. Santos-Matibag, university officials welcomed the participants and reaffirmed the institution’s support for initiatives that promote local talent and creative expression.
Among the university officials present were College of Arts and Sciences dean Prof. Nomer N. Varua, Communication and Public Affairs Office director Prof. Erica Mae Y. Perdio, and BA Communication Program representative Dr. Gabriel Jessie Guevarra.
