DINALUPIHAN, Bataan – Police at dawn of Wednesday arrested two of four members of the notorious “Bolt Cutter Gang” while about to leave the house they robbed of P300,000 in cash.
Supt. Rizalino Abaya, Dinalupihan police chief, said nabbed were Melvin Ellano, 26, of New Kalalake, Olongapo City and Patrick Miclat, 23, of Sta. Rita, Olon-gapo City.
Two others known as Alias Barak and John Mark, both from Olongapo City, eluded arrest by speeding away in a getaway car when responding police arrived. Abaya said police officers were able to get the vehicle’s plate number.
Confiscated from the suspects were a bolt cutter, portable acetylene cutter, ammunition, sachets of shabu and a wig that fell off from one of the fleeing suspects. The police chief said they returned to owner businesswoman Liza Gabriel the P300,000 cash they recovered from the robbers.
“This is a notorious group operating in Zambales, Olongapo City and Bataan,” Abaya said. He said that suspects used shabu first before committing the robbery, showing an almost empty sachet of the illegal drugs.
“They will be charged for robbery by force upon things, illegal possession of ammunitions and drugs,” the police chief said. Relatives of the house and softdrinks warehouse owner showed the two doors forcibly opened by suspects by cutting the padlocks at about 4 in the morning.
