BALANGA CITY, Bataan – “To the children of Tita Cory . . . she must go in August, the month sanctified by your Dad’s martyrdom. She must go on a First Saturday with our Lady’s sweet smile. She must leave early morning never to see the sunset again. Blessed death for the woman who was our blessing,” read the message by text of Bishop Socrates “Soc” Villegas.

According to Fr. Perry Medina, parish priest of the St. Joseph Cathedral in Balanga City, the bishop informed all priests in 11 towns and one city of the death of former Pres. Corazon C. Aquino and asked them to pray.

Villegas postponed a big gathering of priests in Bataan on Tuesday to be able to condole with the children of the late president who was very close to him.

Sister Irma Victoria, a leader of the Campus Youth Ministry of Balanga, said Mrs. Aquino left a legacy for the Filipino people especially to the youth to emulate.

“Malungkot sapagka’t isang magaling na Pangulo ang nawala,” said two women, a government employee and a housewife.

“Kinilabutan ako ng malaman kong namatay na si Pangulong Aquino at sobrang nalungkot kami sapagka’t napakabuti niyang Presidente na sa kanyang panahon ay walang korapsiyon,” a group of middle-aged women said, adding “siya ang best President.”
