Bizman robbed, killed in NE

    LLANERA, Nueva Ecija – A 42-year-old businessman was killed in a robbery perpetrated by motorcycle-riding men in Purok 2, Barangay Victoria here about 7 p.m. Saturday.

    The victim, Rio Arocena, owner of a sari-sari store, resident of Purok 5, Barangay Victoria here, was on board a single motorcycle (8932-XS) with his 15-year-old daughter, on their way home when the culprits tailed and repeatedly shot him with a .45 pistol, police probers said.

    PO3 Oliver Cardona, investigator, said the suspects took the victim’s bag containing P50,000 and two mobile phones.

    “The suspects immediately fled to south direction,” Cardona said, while the victim was pronounced dead on arrival at a hospital in Cabanatuan City.

    Police recovered from the crime scene five cartridges for .45.

    The girl was unhurt.

    The incident happened amid heavy checkpoint operations being conducted by government security personnel in connection with the forthcoming synchronized national and local elections.
