BALANGA CITY – Senator Nancy and brother Makati Mayor Jun-Jun Binay on Friday distributed relief goods to flood-stricken victims in Dinalupihan town and this city.

“Naatasan kami ng aming ama, Bise-Presidente Jejomar Binay, na magdala sa inyo ng kaunting tulong,” said the newly-elected lady senator.

“Minabuti ng aming ama na maghiwa-hiwalay kami para mas maraming matulungan,” the Makati City mayor said.

Nancy said their father has been making round of various areas bringing relief goods to affected victims of Typhoon Labuyo and then by monsoon rains and Maring.

“Kahit gaano kami ka-busy, katungkulan naming tulungan ang ating mga kababayang nangangailangan ng tulong,” the senator said.

Aside from relief goods, the Makati mayor handed out new canes as replacement to bamboos used by some elderly.

Second district Rep. Enrique Garcia and sons Gov. Albert Garcia and City Mayor Jose Enrique Garcia III joined the Binay children in the distribution of relief goods in barangay Tuyo, Balanga City.

In Dinalupihan, Mayor Gila Garcia, the congressman’s daughter, accompanied Nancy and Jun-Jun.

Dinalupihan and Balanga City are two of the heavily flood-hit areas in Bataan.

The neophyte senator said she will look into the budget to allocate fund for the flood control program of the province.

Mayor Garcia said the improved drainage system of Balanga  was no match to the volume of rainfall that fell into the city.

“Tatlong araw na mataas ang baha sa amin na umabot ng lampas beywang,” said Rolando Sarmiento and Edith Mendiola of San Rafael and Jacoba, respectively, both sitios in Tuyo.

Governor Garcia said the Integrated Flood Control program prepared by the Department of Public Works and highways should now be implemented.

The project covers the towns of Dinalupihan, Hermosa and orani in Bataan and Lubao, Pampanga.

Congressman Garcia said flooding will soon be a thing of the past in the province.

Latest partial report of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Office showed that 402,759 families of 776,492 persons have been affected by the monsoon rains and Maring in 11 towns and one city in Bataan.
