BCDA transforms the ASEAN Convention Center in Clark Freeport Zone into a 200-bed quarantine center for PUIs.
CLARK FREEPORT – Three facilities here are now being prepared as quarantine centers for persons under investigation in Central Luzon particularly in the provinces of Tarlac and Pampanga by the Bases Conversion and Development Authority.
BCDA president–CEO Vince Dizon said there is a need for PUIs to have their own quarantine centers to reduce the community spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“We must decongest our hospitals to save more lives. We need to develop centers to save patients at the first stages of Covid-19 and protect the frontliners,” Dizon clarified.
The transformation of existing sites into quarantine centers was already done in China, United States, and Spain, he noted.
Facilities in Clark currently being prepared as quarantine centers include the ASEAN Convention Center with 200 beds, New Clark City Athletes’ Village with 525 rooms and the National Government Administrative Center Building with 1,000 beds.
“These quarantine centers will take good care of our kababayans. It will have a 24/7 monitoring from doctors and nurses, there will be free food, it is air-conditioned and even has free Wifi,” Dizon said.
