SAMAL, Bataan: Barangays here joined Saturday, January 6, 2024, the nationwide observance of the National Community Development Day, cleaning sidewalks, canals, rivers, creeks and other public areas.
In Barangay Sta. Lucia, participants were equipped with walis tingting, rakes, shovels, hoes, empty sacks and even a grass cutter in the clean-up drive in different sitios.
It started with a short program and snacks of coffee and pandesal at the Barangay hall.
Sta. Lucia Barangay Chairman Hector Forbes led newly-elected officials of the Barangay and Sangguning Kabataan, barangay employees, barangay Tanod, Barangay Health Workers, 4Ps and other volunteers in the clean-up.
President Marcos has urged the public to join the National Community Development Day and asked the newly-elected BSK officials to start 2024 with the national clean-up program. The clean-up drive focusses on the importance of the bayanihan spirit for a healthier and safer environment.
