Barangay Tanod drowns

    IBA, Zambales – A Barangay Tanod here was found dead, reportedly drowned in a flooded ricefied in Barangay Dirita of this town on Monday, police said.

    Zambales Police Provincial Office (ZPPO) Director, Sr. Supt. Rolando Felix, identified the victim as Hernando Calimlim, 48, and resident of Barangay Zone II, this town.

    Report said a group of teenagers were on their way to the flooded rice field in Barangay Dirita to check their fishnet when they noticed a foot of a person floating on the water.

    They said they pulled it out and immediately told Barangay Captain Bacsal about the incident.
    Witnesses said that prior to the incident, they saw the victim allegedly under the influence of liquor walking along the GOVIC Highway on his way to Barangay Dirita.

    Investigator suspected that the victim slipped in a muddy area of the rice field that caused his fall.

    Investigation disclosed no sign of foul play was seen at the cadaver of the victim at the crime scene.
