While the Truth Commission is yet to start its work in earnest maybe it should also look into the case of funds given to several foundations under the watch of former Department of Agriculture Arthur Yap who is now a congressman.

Yap had gone in record to look into the reported irregularities in the use of funds intended for the governments Masagana program. Some of those granted loans under the program cannot be located.

Yap was also with the DA during the alleged fertilizer scam, and Chito Lorenzo was the DA Chief.

I am just wondering if Cito Lorenzo is the same Luis Noro Lorenzo, the Ateneo de Manila spitfire in its basketball team years past?

Lorenzo is now willing to testify on the alleged fertilizer scam. He may be charged in connection with the suspected irregularities on the purchase and distribution of the P720 millions fertilizer anomalies. Maybe, just maybe, for command responsibility.

Ombudsman Merceditas Gutierrez maybe a respondent in an impeachment complaint. This is long been coming for her alleged inaction in at least five high profile cases.

With Jun Lozada and Romulo Neri still around, I hope the impeachment case will be the last of the complaints against Gutierrez who is reported as a classmate of former First Gentelman Mike Arroyo. Let it be said again: “There will be no reconciliation without justice”.

Last Monday July 12, Gutierrez defended herself against her critics. She said she is not corrupt and did not steal from the government coffers. I will take her word for it.

She also said that her closeness to the President (GMA) and the First Gentleman is not a ground for impeachment. Agreed. But that is not the only basis for the complaint that is expected to be filed against her.

Former Representative Hontiveros Baraquel enumerated at least five reasons why an impeachment complaint will be filed against Guteirrez possibly late this month.

Let us wait how the House will act on the complaint.

Whoever proposed to postponed the election should consult the Constitution and the pertinent law or laws which provide for such postponement of barangay elections which would automatically extend the term of office particularly for those who have not performed their duties as expected.

Comelec is not amenable to putting off the election set for October this year.
