CLARK FREEPORT – A study to extend the Metro Manila Skyway to Tambubong, Bocaue Exit of the North Luzon Expressway is nearing its stage of completion.

This was disclosed by Robin Ignacio, NLEX senior traffic manager, during the Discuss Wid Us forum of the Central Luzon Media Association-Pampanga at the Prism Lounge of Hotel Widus on March 27.

Ignacio was responding to a query if NLEX was taking “serious consideration” on the long-standing calls of Pampanga Chamber of Commerce and Industry chairman Rene G. Romero for the extension of the skyway to the Bocaue Toll Plaza.

The skyway, Romero said, has become more “imperative” in the wake of the “monstrous traffic gridlock” caused by the closure of some lanes in the wake of the heavy damage to the Marilao Bridge caused by a trailer truck last March 29.

“All Marilao northbound lanes reopened last March 26, easing traffic congestion thereat,” said Ignacio during the forum.

The 19-kilometer skyway extension under study extends to the Tambubong, Bocaue Exit which opened last March 13 to decongest traffic at the Bocaue Interchange by serving as an alternate route going to NLEX from Sta. Maria, Angat, Pandi, and vice versa. Photos: Nelson Gonzales/CLMA-Pampanga
