CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Personal grooming
has gained high currency with earlier quarantine restrictions more relaxed with the MGCQ, and local government units allowing businesses to resume operations.

In strict compliance with safety standards and protocols, Arts and Cuts Hair Gallery Salon reopened its doors to clients on June 7.

Arts and Cuts owner and Angeles City councilor Amos Rivera said adhering to the new standards in the business is their priority as it gives assurance of safety to customers amid the pandemic.

“We are very strict with our protocols here. We have the standard temperature check and disinfection protocols apart from sanitizing the place when the client leaves,” said Rivera.

“If any of our clients need to bring their kids or have a senior client in need of our service, we close the salon for them so no one else can go in for the time being,” Rivera added. “We don’t really accept walk-ins. It is much better if they book an appointment.”

Rivera also actively supports local artists by giving them the opportunity to have a place to display and sell their artworks that could also help generate income to the artists.

“Much as an old soul, I am also an art collector myself. Incidentally, being the chairman in the city council committee on culture and the arts for six years, I was able to meet our local artists,” Rivera said.

“They have excellent work but the problem is the business side. They have great art pieces sitting at home so I thought of putting an exhibit for them, display them here and put it up for sale,” he added.

Arts and Cuts houses several works of Kapampangan artists mostly from this city as well as Angeles and Magalang. Realism pieces, upcycled wooden artworks, and other artistic disciplines can be seen on display in the gallery area.

“These are all for sale, they are not my personal collections. The artists here can display their paintings for free and can be sold to whoever wants to buy them,” he said.

Apart from his love for the arts, Rivera quipped how he always likes to have his hair cut clean and slick so he thought of putting up a salon with an art gallery in some sort of a business fusion.

“I am a little vain myself. I also feel satisfaction when our clients love the services they get from us. It’s our crowning glory, the only area in our face now that isn’t covered,” he said in jest.

Rivera also mentioned they are planning to hold live art exhibits once the Covid situation cools down to support the Kapampangan artists and give them the exposure they need.

“We used to hold art month here where we had a little get together along with the artists and we plan to hold another live exhibit as soon as the situation relaxes,” he said.

With the surprise turnout of both new and returning clients, as well as art pieces being sold since its reopening, Arts and Cuts reassures its customers of its safety standards and protocols as advance bookings and slot reservations are a priority.
